What will I need?

Sewing Supplies

Nappies:

If you are using cloth full time for one baby, will need between 18 and 36 nappies depending on how frequently you plan to wash. This can be any combination of flats, shaped, fitted or All-In-One cloth nappies. From birth to about six weeks, your baby may need 8-16 changes per day. For the rest of the first year, 6-8 changes per day is normal and this will usually decrease to 6 changes between toddlerhood and toilet training.

Nappy Covers:

Most Nappy covers dry very quickly so I recommend a minimum of four nappy covers in each size, although 6-8 covers can make life a bit easier. If you have a few more than you require they will last longer as they don't need to be washed and dried as frequently.

Baby Wipes:

One wipe per nappy is usually sufficient, but they are great to use to wipe hands and faces so any extras will be used.

Nappy Liners:

One liner per nappy is required, a minimum of 12 will suffice but they are cheap so one liner per cloth nappy means that you will always have one clean to use. Silk Liners are expensive, but great for healing any rashes, so if you want some of these 3 to 6 would be a reasonable quantity.

Nappy Bucket:

One or two nappy buckets with lids. Some people like to keep the wet nappies separate from the soiled nappies in which case you would need two buckets, and if you only want to take the nappies to the laundry once a day, an extra bucket kept in the change area will be necessary.
